Snow removal in Winnipeg is not what most people assume. The City plows public sidewalks itself, so the work you need to hire covers your driveway, your private walks, the boulevard path to the street, and the windrow the plow leaves across your approach.
What the City does

Under Winnipeg's Snow Clearing and Ice Control Policy, sidewalks are plowed and sanded on the same priority as the street beside them. Sidewalks on Priority 1 and 2 routes are cleared after a 5 cm accumulation, normally within 36 hours of a storm ending.
That puts Winnipeg in a small group of Canadian cities that clear public sidewalks rather than putting a deadline on the adjacent homeowner. If you have read otherwise online, check the City's policy or call 311.
What is still yours
Your driveway and private walkways. The City does not touch them
The boulevard path out to the street, if you want one. The boulevard is used for snow storage during plowing, so it gets buried repeatedly
The windrow across your private approach after a sidewalk plow passes. It arrives compacted and heavy
Snow you clear stays on your property. It cannot go onto the street.

When to book
September. Winnipeg's snow season runs September through March and routes fill before the first real snowfall, because a company can only serve so many properties between a snowfall ending and the morning commute.
What to ask before you book
What is your trigger depth"?
Do you clear the windrow after the City plow goes through, or only the driveway
Do you clear the boulevard path to the street
How many hours after a snowfall ends do you arrive
Seasonal contract, per visit, or storm call
The windrow question matters more than people expect. A driveway cleared at 6 a.m. and sealed shut by a plow at 10 a.m. is not a cleared driveway.
